Sheldon Springs – Lawrence Alwood Tipper, 90, a resident of this area for fifty-eight years passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his loving family at his side. Born in Swanton, Vermont on April 15, 1918, Lawrence was the son of the late John Edward Tipper, II and Virginia (Real) Tipper. On August 17, 1940, in St. Albans, Lawrence married the former Leona Mae Domina, who survives him. He was a communicant of the Sheldon United Methodist Church and a member of Teamsters Union Local #597. After retirement he was able to pursue his passion of auto mechanics and spent the majority of his time in his garage working on vehicles. A perfectionist, who liked a job done right and all things in their rightful place, he was a compassionate man with a heart of gold and hands that were always ready to help. Lawrence always put his family first.
