Obituary for Larry L. Coons

Georgia, Vermont - Mr. Larry Coons, age 61, died Monday, January 10, 2011, at his home on Georgia Shore following a long illness. Larry was born in St. Albans, November 15, 1949, the son of the late Ronald and Doris (Poland) Coons. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy in 1967 and joined the Vermont Army National Guard (HHC 1st Bn 172d AR) in 1969 of which he served honorably for six years. He was employed as a foreman by Regal Art Press for over 42 years. Larry loved fishing, gardening, camping, and getting together with his family and friends and just relaxing at his camp. He always had the best garden in the neighborhood. Larry is survived by his daughter Cathy Potvin and her husband, Robert, of Swanton; his grandchildren, Paul and Alyssa Ashline, and Kaitlyn Potvin, all of Swanton; his brother, Kenneth Coons and his friend, Ann Slayton, of Waterville, VT; three sisters, Sally Coons Osman and her husband, Richard, of Deerfield, IL, Joyce Goodwin Stutler of St. Albans, Susan Coons Baker and her husband, Malcolm, of Georgia, VT; one uncle, Earl Poland and his wife Ruth of St. Albans. He is also survived by his ex-wife Debra Fielding of Swanton and his good friend Kim Benoure of St. Albans; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother in law, James Stutler. Larry was dearly supported by his family and many special and very dear friends and neighbors during his illness. He loved you all dearly. Family and friends may call on Saturday, January 15, 2011, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 1:30 PM at Ascension Parish Church on Ethan Allen Highway in Georgia.
