St. Albans - Katherine Madeline Hall, 86, a lifelong resident of St. Albans, died Friday; December 26, 2008, in the Franklin County Rehab in St. Albans. Born in St. Albans, May 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Earl Alfred and Georgiana Mary (Brouillard) Hall. She retired in 1983 from the Central Vermont Railway, where she was a clerk in the accounting and the transportation departments for 41 years and was a former member of both the Central Vermont Railway Veterans Association and the Transportation and Communications International Union. Katherine was a 1939 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in St. Albans, Past President of the Autonoe Club and a member of the Inner Circle Club. She was a member of the Franklin County Humane Society and the Cat Lovers Society of America. Katherine was very active in the Order of Eastern Star. She was a 50 year member and Past Matron of Welden Chapter # 79 O.E.S. in St. Albans and was a life member of Chittenden Chapter # 59 O.E.S. in Milton. She was also a life member of the Green Mountain Deputies Association and Grand Representatives Association. Katherine enjoyed camping at the cottage on Fairfield Pond for 40 years and served as past president of the Fairfield Pond Recreation Association for 12 years. One of her favorite pastimes was painting and writing poetry. She also enjoyed attending concerts at the Oakdale Musical Theater in Wallingford, CT. Katherine leaves a sister Martha Hemingway and her husband, Raymond of Brattleboro, Vermont a nephew and Godson, Earl Hall Hemingway and his wife, Debbie of Brattleboro, Vermont, a grand niece and Goddaughter, Jennifer Anne Haskins-Norcia and her husband, Adam of Brattleboro, Vermont, a cousin Gwen Fields and her husband Orville of St. Albans, special friends and care givers, Michael and Linda Pfau of St. Albans, Vermont and dear friends, Timothy and Linda Miller of St. Albans, Vermont A funeral service will be held Wednesday; December 31, 2008, at 11:00 AM in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, Vermont with the Rev. Jean Austin, Pastor of St. Luke Episcopal Church, officiating. Spring interment will be in the family lot in the Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadow, St. Albans, Vermont 05478 or to the Vermont Heart Association, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, Vermont 05495.
