Fairfield – Judy passed away Saturday, May 29th, 2021, and Bob passed away May 30th, 2021, at their home in Fairfield, VT in the presence of their entire family.
They resided in Fairfield, VT for the past 3 years and were communicants at Holy Angels and St. Patrick’s parishes. They raised their family in their home of 53 years in Deer Park, NY (Long Island) as active members of Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish.
Judy was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on May 11th, 1943, the daughter of the late George and Kathryn (Malta) Hoffman. She is predeceased by her brother George Hoffman, Jr.
Bob was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on December 25th, 1938, the son of the late Ambrose and Helen (Milukas) Walent. He is predeceased by his brother Richard Walent.
Judy and Bob were married in St. Aloysius Church on June 13, 1964, in Wilkes Barre, Pa.
Judy spent her career as a registered nurse while raising their six children.
Bob served his country in the United States Marines Corp. He then enjoyed a lifelong career in the airline industry as an aircraft welder/mechanic.
Bob and Judy were extremely generous with their time. They focused their volunteer hours on their faith and that of special needs and sick children’s charities. They held several lay ministerial positions at Saints Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church including Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
Bob is known for annually wearing the “red suit”, while sporting a natural white beard. He was often seen at the Christmas Family Mass as well as providing Christmas joy at a school for disabled children.
Bob and Judy were very generous with their money and donated to several charities including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Judy and Bob are survived by their children: Judith Lengefeld, John (Justine) Walent, Jeff (Jane) Walent, Jennifer (Joseph) Micholocyk, Jacquelyn Walent, Jason (Kristin) Walent, as well as fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, Judy’s sister, Kathryn, and her husband, Stanley; and sister-in-law Mary Hoffman.
Judy and Bob’s family will receive family and friends on Monday, June 14, 2021, from 3:00 until 7:00pm, at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Judy and Bob will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 11:00am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans, VT. Interment will take place at a later date in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Please contact a family member for additional details.
