St. Albans – Joyce F. Bayard a resident of this area since 2011 passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Born on November 6, 1931, in Somerville, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mabel (Schneider) Fleming. Joyce was 82 years old. Joyce was educated in New Jersey, moving to New York City to work for the FBI. She also enjoyed working in Sarasota, Florida, for Cardinal Mooney High School and for Florida Power & Light Company. She was an avid bridge player, had many lifelong friends, and was the biggest fan of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at countless sporting activities, band concerts and school activities. Survivors include her son, Dr. Max Bayard and his wife, Deanna, of St. Albans; her daughter, Patricia Reich and her husband, John, of Huntersville, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Jennifer McConnell and her husband, Reverend Jason McConnell, Stephen Bayard and his wife, Maki, Angela McFall and her husband, Joshua, Lindsey Reich and her fiancé, Matthew Haberman, David Bayard, Christina Bayard, and Matthew Bayard as well as seven great-grandchildren and brother, Howard “Bud” Fleming and his wife, Elaine, of Fairmount, New Jersey. Joyce’s family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A celebration of her life will then be held at 6:00 PM in the Heald Chapel with the Reverend Jason McConnell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000-Dept 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge Massachusetts 02140.
