Joseph Andrew “Mac” McDonald, 60, passed away at his home in Georgia.
Joe was born on December 10, 1955, in Danbury, CT., the son of John McDonald and Barbara (Hinkley) McLean.
After attending St. Peter School and Immaculate High School in Danbury, Joe entered the US Air Force in 1973 where he was an aerospace ground equipment mechanic for B-52 and KC-135 aircraft. He was honorably discharged in 1977.
Following his discharge, Joe attended computer training school in Hartford, CT to become a programmer. He later received Bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Accounting with a minor in Economics from Trinity College in Burlington. He was employed at IDX in Burlington from 1978 to 2000 where he was a programmer/systems analyst, operations manager and, finally, billing manager for the 1300 nationwide customers that IDX had at that time.
After leaving IDX, Joe opened his own online business, Adirondack Linens and Scrubs. He had clients all over the world.
Joe especially enjoyed history, aviation, NASA, travel, scuba diving and Indy car racing. His travels had taken him to Europe, Hawaii, Egypt and The Carribean.
Surviving are a daughter, Alicia McDonald of Anchorage, AK; 4 sisters, Barbara Riegel of Murrels Inlet, SC, Mary Avedisian of Carmel, NY, Lucy Coleman of Fort Worth, TX and Mary England of Gilford, NH and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his father, John; mother, Barbara; step-father, John McLean and a brother, John McDonald.
There are no services planned at this time.
