St. Albans - On Friday, August 14, 2015, John W. Dougherty passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side. He was 67 years old. John was the only son of William F. “Bill” and Lora (Guilmette) Dougherty. He was born on January 4, 1948 and raised in St. Albans. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1965 and upon graduation entered the U.S. Navy. He served until 1968. John was a U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Inspector for 35 years serving mostly at the Richford Border and retiring in 2003. John is survived by daughter, Laura, her partner, Mike Lebo, and her children, Tyler, Cassie and Stephanie Eppler; daughter, Lynn, her husband, Brian Moulton, and their children Jacob and Noah, and his son Andrew, his wife, Stacie (Hardy), and their children, Myah, Sydnie and Drew. John is also survived by his sisters, Carol Streeter-Wennar and Deb (Steve) Bourgeois, nephews, Tim (Shellie) Streeter and their sons Brandon, Ryan and Keegan and Jeremy (Alexandria) Bourgeois and their daughters Lillian and Ava, nieces, Heather Streeter (Willy Ehrhardt) and Kiersten Bourgeois. John was predeceased by his parents and his brothers-in-law, Bob Streeter and Dr. Marty Wennar. John enjoyed golfing, playing cards, watching sports and most of all spending time with his family. He had an amazing ability to make friends wherever he went and was a genuinely caring man. He will be missed! Services were private at the convenience of the family per John's wishes.
