St. Albans - John R. Carmola died on Monday, July 30, while swimming on vacation with his family in North Carolina. He was surrounded by close family at his death, and died peacefully and according to his long standing wishes. John was born in Oneida, New York, on September 4, 1940. He made his home in St. Albans since 1972, where he practiced internal medicine until 2000. He gratefully lived his life devoted to family and friends, and was intensely interested in all aspects of the natural world. He shared his life with Mary, his devoted wife, and their beloved children and families: Kateri Carmola, and her children Joseph and Sonia Neidorf, of Salisbury, Vermont, and their father David Neidorf; John F. Carmola and his wife Kathryn Sparacino, of Telluride, Colorado, and his children Anthony, Marcella, Eli, and Walter; and Amy Carmola Hauf and Paul Hauf, and their children William and Anna, of Richmond, Vermont. He is also survived by his brothers and sister and their families: Fr. Michael Carmola, Jim and Glenna Carmola, Mary Ann Carmola Van der Jagt, Joe Carmola; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Barby and Burke Leahey, Betsey and Tony Bott, Mark and Louanne Brady; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 6, from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street. And a funeral service will held on Tuesday August 7, at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church on Fairfield Street.
