Obituary for John Babington Osborne

Montgomery - John Babington Osborne died on Sunday, November 13, of multiple myeloma at UVM. He was able to have more than 3 wonderful years because of his incredible medical team. He was a lovely husband, father and grandfather AKA JoJo. He played rugby for his school and university but became passionate about pick-up soccer at the Montgomery Rec Center.

In August, he played his last game and scored a goal! We will always remember him in his soccer gear, playing with the lads on long summer evenings. He loved living in the hills near Jay, playing chess with his grandchildren, being outside in all weathers and walking with the dogs. Educated as a physicist, he founded a company dedicated to the environment and worked on many forwarded-thinking projects including one at Shelburne Farms. He loved building stone walls, pottering about in the garden and planting trees.

He also loved to travel and had been all over the world from Machu Picchu to the Great Wall of China. He was a bon vivant who loved his pisco sours, a nice big T-bone and sticky buns. John will be remembered by many friends old and new, going back to hippy days on the farm on Memphremagog and camping and canoeing on Saranac Lake.

He leaves behind a family with now a large hole in its center.

Honored to be serving the family of John Osborne is the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at
