Obituary for Jessica Ann Taylor

Saint Albans Town – Jessica Ann Taylor, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, April 18, 2013 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. Jessi was born on June 29, 1963 in St. Albans. She was a school-based clinician with Project SOAR, where she will be greatly missed by her students and co-workers. Her ultimate passion was helping children cope with trauma, and she earned her counseling licensure in the fall of 2012. Additionally, she held Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. Prior to and during her Masters studies she was a dedicated stay-at-home Mom, raising her own children and having a profound impact on many other young people as they grew up. She will be best remembered by those who loved her for her kindness, generosity, strength, and sense of humor. Jessi is survived by: her children Sadie and Jacob Taylor of St. Albans and Hannah Bruyette and her husband Chad of Swanton and their children Kody and Gracie; sisters Mikayla Maskell and her husband Timothy of St. Albans and their children Cam and Owen, and Sarah Jane Pieri and her husband Kyle of Minneapolis, MN and their children Bailey (Jessi’s Goddaughter), Kirby, and Benjamin and his wife Katlin; her aunt, “the other member of the sisterhood”, Jane Powell and her children Alison Gardner and her husband Nate, Sam Fredette, Michele and Stephanie Powell; and her Uncle Fred and Aunt Des. Also surviving are Jessi’s beloved NY family: Joy and Bernie Stevens, BJ and Pam Stevens, Mandi Stevens Sanchez, Cade and Jaelyn Stevens, Drew Fowler and Melaina Sanchez, Michele and Ted Dlugolecki, Holly and James Toomey, Claire Skjellerup and partner Patrick McKenny, Timmy Skjellerup and Madison and Aiden McKenny; and her southern family Chad, Sarah and Charley Taylor. Jessi also leaves her close friends and constant companions Kelly Gosselin, Bob Begley, and Mome and Kris Provost and their children as well as her chosen family Leon Willard, Jamie Brannon and Brian Bombardier. She is also survived by countless other friends and relatives who she held near and dear to her heart. Jessi was predeceased by her husband Todd P. Taylor and Jane’s beloved husband Bob Powell. Honoring Jessi’s devotion to youth, a time for her students and young children only will be held at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St. in St. Albans on Monday, April 22 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Following this time, friends are invited to call on Monday at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Jessi’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of St. Albans, 27 Church Street. The Rev. Judith S. Kennedy, Pastor will officiate. Jessi will be laid to rest next to her husband, Todd at the St. Albans Bay cemetery in a private family ceremony. Should friends desire, gifts in Jessi’s memory may be made to Jane Powell, 27 Hill Farm Estates, St. Albans, VT 05478.
