Swanton – Jeannine Lebel Benoit, 76, a longtime area resident and dairy farmer passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her family at her side. Jeannine was born on March 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Annette (Bourbeau) Lebel. She was married to Armand W. Benoit, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1988. Jeannine was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne and very active in the operation of their dairy farm. Most important to her was her family. Survivors include her daughter, Gail Bevins and her husband, Bruce, of Swanton; her grandsons, Tom Bevins and his wife, Nicki; Scott Bevins and his wife, Annellie, and Richard Bevins; her special great-granddaughter, Taylor Bevins and step- great-granddaughter, Annellie. Jeannine is also survived by her brothers, Yvon and Roger Lebel. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Benoit on September 29, 1984, and her brothers Claude, Marcel and John Paul Lebel. Her sister-in-law, Rose Marie Lebel and niece, Robin Lebel were very special people in her life, along with many nieces and nephews that were dear to her. Jeannine’s family would like to thank Roxanne Ladabouche and her staff at Giordano Manor for the care, love and support given to her and her family over the last few years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend callings hours on Monday, August 22, 2011, from 4 to 7 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 23rd at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Church on Lake Street, with the Reverend Daniel Lokanga as celebrant. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
