Obituary for Jean Paul "Johnny" Bechard

Georgia – Jean Paul Bechard, a resident of this area for over 80 years, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at his home with his family at his side. Jean Paul was born on July 27, 1918, in St. Armand, Quebec, the son of the late Leonard and Bertha (Vayette) Bechard. On October 23, 1945, in Holy Angels Church, he married Florence Cadieux, who survives him. Jean Paul was a dairy farmer most of his life and also worked construction before retiring. The farmer never left him and he was especially proud of his garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Florence of Georgia; their daughters, Jeanne, Jeannette , Deanne, Bernadette, Carmen; sons, Maurice and Michel; his sisters, Theresa, Mary, Fern, Lorraine and Estelle; his brother, Germain and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cecile and brother, Father Bernard Bechard. Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So Main St., St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 24, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. A luncheon will follow at the Holy Angels Parish Hall.
