St. Albans/ Leland, NC - Jason A. Robtoy, Marine, son, grandson, companion, brother, friend, has lived a distinguished life, with his passing away June 13th, 2014. Jason was born on January 14, 1987, in Burlington, VT to Penny Hall and is predeceased by his step-father, Joshua Hall. Jason attended Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, VT and graduated in 2006. Jason joined the United States Marine Corps on July 10, 2006, and spent nearly six years serving as a Marine. Jason spent time serving at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA, with the Marine Corps Security Force and at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA as a rifleman. During Jason’s time as a rifleman, he deployed with 1/6 Alpha Company from December 2009 to July 2010 to Marjah, Afghanistan for Operation Moshtarak. Jason had an unyielding loyalty to his fellow Marines and made multiple generous contributions to charitable organizations that benefited his Brothers in Arms. Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he became a member of VFW Post 758 in St. Albans VT. Above all, Jason had an unbreakable bond with his Marine Corps brothers. Jason’s memory and legacy will be survived and carried on by those he loved to include his devoted and loving partner, Shannon Sheriff, his proud and attentive mother, Penny Hall, sister and brother-in-law Mandi and Ryan Boutin, sister, Alyssa Bechard and her significant other, Torianno Wynn; brother and sister-in-law, Codie and Katie Gauthier; niece, Taleigh and nephews Carson, Gavin, and Jalen. He is also survived by his grandparents, Ronald and Elaine Robtoy and Jackie and Greg Wright; aunts and uncles, Kellie Robtoy and Ian Giroux, April and Clayton Thibodeau, and Angel Robtoy and Tom Massey, cousins, Ryan Robtoy, Chelsea & Mike Salvaty, Timothy Fournier, Zachary Robtoy, Kyrah and Caleb Thibodeau, and his Marine Corps brothers. Jason was preceded in death by his uncle, Ronald F. Robtoy, II on July 23, 1995. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will then be held at 1:00 PM at the American Legion Hall, 100 Parah Drive in St. Albans with the Reverend Mr. Duane E. Langlois officiating. Military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jason’s memory may be made to “Home for Heroes”, through GoFundMe, http://www.gofundme.com/ag3q1w.
