Obituary for Janice E. Lugtig

Janice E. Lugtig Batesville, Mississippi - Janice E. Lugtig, 71, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Mrs. Lugtig was born, January 19, 1937, in Hartford, Connecticut to Grace (Welch) Gregson of Kensington, Connecticut and the late William Gregson. She was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church, a member and former first lady of Lodge 1430, B.P.O.E. in Ventura, California. She was a truck driver for North American Van Lines, Allied Freight, May Flower Movers and Baker Trucking Company in Ventura. She also held a California Real Estate license with Century 21. Survivors include: her mother, Grace (Welch) Gregson of Kensington, Connecticut; one daughter, Donna Covington of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, Jack E. Bailey and his fiancée, Sherry Lindsey of Water Valley, Mississippi; an adopted son, Mark Denham; step-children, Susan Yslas, Kathy Lugtig, Sharon Howard, Douglas Lugtig II and Donald Lugtig; two granddaughters, Veena Alcantara and Erica Higgenbotham; several step-grandchildren; two great-grandsons and many step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Judy Gregson and June Bubier. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas R. Lugtig, Sr. and one step-son, Michael Lugtig. Private graveside funeral services will be held this spring at the family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery in St. Albans, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Janice’s name to the Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 West Main Street, Tupelo, Mississippi 38801.
