Obituary for James Walter Laroe

St. Albans - James Walter Laroe passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60 on October 16th, 2011. He died peacefully in his sleep in his home in St. Albans. Jim was an only child born in Montpelier, Vermont on December 31, 1950. His mother was Jane Maude (Tabb) Laroe and his father was Walter Joseph Laroe. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in St. Albans in 1968. He graduated with honors from Johnson State College and married Sharon Ann (Lavigne) Laroe in 1972. Sharon and Jim were very happily married for 39 years. Jim worked for the Fonda Container Company in Saint Albans in his twenties and thirties. He then worked at IBM for several years, and followed that with a successful career as a real estate agent for Century 21 until he retired. Jim spent his retirement enjoying his favorite pastimes, including dinners out, reading, playing with his grandchildren, taking power naps, Red Sox games, and graham cracker pie. His greatest joy in life was simply sharing time with his wife and family. Jim is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his son, Jason Laroe and daughter Jane Ledoux and her husband, Mathew Ledoux. He has two granddaughters, Rachel and Brianna Ledoux. Jim is predeceased by his mother and father. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.m. in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Church Street. The Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage will officiate. Jim’s family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
