Obituary for James P. Howrigan

St. Albans – James P. Howrigan, 85 a resident of this area since 1998, passed away early Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in New York City on April 6, 1923, the son of the late Leo and Agnes (Cunningham) Howrigan. James served his country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, where he was recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Con-Edison after thirty-five years of service. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Fairfield and a member of Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion. Survivors include his sister, Mary A. Gallagher of Airmont, New York; his brother, Leo A. Howrigan of Matawan, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Ceil Howrigan of West Islip, New York, a special nephew, Neil Gallagher of St. Albans and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many cousins in Fairfield. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother, John J. Howrigan and a sister-in-law, Mary Anne Howrigan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on the Church Road in Fairfield. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
