Obituary for J. L. Raymond Luneau

St. Albans - J. L. Raymond “Ray” Luneau, 81, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at the Franklin County Rehab Center surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on January 11, 1927, the son of the late Joseph E. and Laura Marie (St. Cyr) Luneau. Raymond worked for the Central Vermont Railroad and retired after forty-one years of service. An avid hunter and sportsman, he was known for his hospitality at his deer camp in North Fayston, Vermont. Ray served as president of the St. Albans Sportsman’s Club and remained active in the club for many years as a champion skeet shooter. On July 18, 1953, in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Raymond married the former Eleanor Parker, who survives him. Their children of four included David Reid Luneau of St. Albans, and his son, Reid; Timothy J. Luneau of Boston, Massachusetts; Rae Elizabeth Allen and her husband, Beau of San Luis Obispo, California and their children, Jack and Claire; and Martha Ann Bach and her husband, Doug of Kansas City, Kansas and their children, Ethan, Ryan and Alex. Raymond is also survived by his siblings, Charles Luneau of St. Albans; Aura Paquette of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Rose Rixon and her husband, Jack of St. Albans; Mary Jean Wulftange and her husband, David of Santa Ynez, California; Roger Luneau and his wife, Carol of St. Albans; and Clara Demers and her husband, Rene of Deland, Florida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by a brother, Everest. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 29, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Fairfield Street. The Reverend W. Andre? Houle will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Raymond’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.
