Swanton – Howard Joseph Hemingway, 62, a lifelong area resident passed away on Saturday June 27, 2009, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his loving family at his side. Born in St. Albans, Vermont on April 14, 1947, Howard was the son of the late Louis and Clara (Dennis) Hemingway. Howard was a 1967 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and then entered the U.S. Navy on September 21, 1967, where he received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was received his Honorable Discharge on February 28, 1969. He then transferred to the Naval Reserve until his separation on September 20, 1973. For several years he was involved with Golden Gloves Boxing. Survivors include his longtime companion and wife since March 12, 2009, Linda Vincelette Hemingway of Swanton; his son, Todd Hemingway and his companion, Amanda Stone ,his son, Daniel Tucker, their two daughters, Desiree and Madison of Highgate Springs; his daughters, Victoria Hemingway and her five daughters, Eleanor, Kayla, Hannah, Hallie and Marah of St. Albans Bay and Nicole Hemingway and her companion, Richard Gagnon and her children, Robbie Greenia, Sharon Greenia and Shawnee Greenia; his step-children, Lester Lee Turner, Jr. and his children, Shawn Turner, Shalee Turner and Samantha Turner; Naomi Steinitz and her husband, Jonathan and her children, Chad Cameron and Austin Robtoy of St. Albans and Margo Heath and her husband, Thomas and their children, Eric Wolcott, Hunter Wolcott and Sierra Heath. Howard is also survived by his sister, Patricia Delisle of St. Albans; two brothers, Richard Hemingway and his wife, Jeanie of Essex, Vermont and Louis Hemingway, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Maine; a brother-in-law, Joseph Vincelette of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Louis and Clara, Howard was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Gagne and Rosemary Hemingway and a brother, Ronald Hemingway. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 1:00 PM at the family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery on the Lake Road. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy, Pastor at Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O.
