Sheldon Springs/St. Albans - Helen Marion Lee, 85, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, January 18, 2015, at the Northwestern Medical Center after a brief illness. She was surrounded in her final days by her family whom she loved dearly. Born on November 22, 1929, in Swanton, Vermont, she was one of ten children of the late Burton and Florence (Barrett) Stearns. Helen married Francis Lee on October 24, 1959, in Swanton, Vermont. They made their home in Sheldon Springs. She was a homemaker who took great pride in her home and yard. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis, on November 16, 1972. She is survived by her three sons, Raymond Lee and his wife, Connie, of Richford; Francis Doe of Canaan and his daughter, Monica; Evan Jackson and his wife, Robin, of Salisbury and their family; and her daughter, Lisa Howrigan and her husband, Lawrence, of Fairfield and their children, Cullen and Kathryn, who were her pride and joy. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Northwestern Medical Center who helped make Helen’s final days peaceful and to the staff at Franklin County Rehab for the kindness and care provided to Helen since her moving there in May. Most importantly, thank you to the staff and her good friends at King’s Daughters Home for providing Helen with her home away from home for six years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans. A funeral service will then be held at 2:00 PM in the Heald Chapel, with the Reverend L. Paul Gratz officiating. Interment will be later this spring in the family lot in St. Anthony Cemetery in Sheldon Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helen’s name may be made to the King’s Daughters Home, 10 Rugg Street, St. Albans, VT 05478 or Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.
