St. Albans – Helen J. Tuscany,81, a longtime area resident passed away early Friday, December 10, 2010, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care following a brief illness. Helen was born in Rawlings, Virginia on July 5, 1929, the daughter of the late, Virgil L. and Maria (Coleman) Jones. On August 1, 1952, in Rawlings, Helen married William G. Tuscany, who survives her. Helen and Bill moved to St. Albans shortly after they were married, where she was a registered nurse at the Fanny Allen Hospital, Kerbs Memorial Hospital and retired as the nurse for Boise Cascade (the former Sheldon Pulp Mill). She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church belonging to the Phi Alpha Class and United Methodist Women. Helen was a volunteer for Martha’s Kitchen and a nurse for the Blood Drawings. She loved crafts, especially needlepoint and she created many beautiful pictures and quilts. Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Bill, of St. Albans; two daughters, Gail Tuscany of Jericho and Kareen Simpers and her husband, Robert of Granville, New York; two granddaughters, Michelle Codding and her fiancé, Justin, and Caitlin Codding. Helen is also survived by her brothers, Southall Jones and his wife, Ola of Virginia and Calvin Jones and his wife, Ann of Virginia; brother-in-law, Wayne Bourgeois of Swanton; half brother-in-law, Alec Tuscany; half sisters-in-law, June Benoit and Debra Sanders; nephews Stephen Bourgeois and his wife, Debra, and Mike Bourgeois and his wife, Sherlyn and several other wonderful nieces and nephews in Virginia. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Oakley Jones; sister, Alice Keefe and sister-in-law, Betty Bourgeois. Helen’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, from 2 to 4 PM in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at 11:00 AM in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Church Street. The Reverend Dr. Marguerite Gage will officiate. Interment will be next spring in the family lot in Highgate Center Cemetery.
