Harold S. Newton Georgia - Harold S. Newton, 80, a lifelong Georgia resident passed away peacefully on Monday morning, August 20, 2007, at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Georgia, April 16, 1927, the son of the late Ralph and Mable (Bliss) Newton. On November 11, 1950, Harold married Faith Greene, who survives him. Harold grew up in a farm family and eventually bought a small farm from George Conger in Georgia in 1956. He loved softball and the games he played and pitched in for many years and was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed bowling and went on to horseshoes which he played for a long time, sharing the pleasure with his father-in-law, Floyd Greene. Harold always loved Harley motorcycles, buying his first new one in 1948. In 1994, he purchased his last Harley and recently had it converted to a trike, a safer ride. Harold rode his bike to Milwaukee for the Harley Davidson 100th year celebration in 2003. He enjoyed Saturday morning trips to the Essex Harley Shop to share visiting with all the Harley guys. Dunkin Donuts was his favorite early morning spot to share coffee with his friends, for many years. In addition to his wife of over 56 years, Faith, Harold leaves three children, Forrest and Teresa Newton of Seattle, WA, Alecia and Donald Dixon of Georgia, Heidi Newton and her companion, Norman Meunier of Alburgh Springs, seven grandchildren; Kris Dudley, Elijah, Isaac and Josh Ferrante, Mason and Skyler Dixon and Emmie Lih. Also two great grandchildren; Bryant Ferrante and Erika Dudley. Harold also leaves his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Shepard, and his sister and brother-in-law, George and Lin Boomhower and special nieces Lee Carson, Ann Rademacher and Eileen Maniaci and many other dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Survivors also include brothers and sisters; Barbara Brennan of Mission Viejo, CA, Marjorie and Bob York of Dallas, TX, Morris and Maxine Newton of Oklahoma City and Fred and Kay Newton of Prescott, AZ. He also leaves a half sister, Marlene and Bob Davison of Stowe, VT, and a sister-in-law, Linda Paradee of Grand Isle. Harold leaves many special friends and his very devoted dog, Dorothy. He enjoyed visiting everyone and keeping track of everyone. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Esther Eyman, Ruth Hale and Ward Newton, a half brother, Bruce Paradee, brother-in-law, Richard Greene and a best friend, John Sunderland. We thank everyone for all the prayers and help during Harold’s short illness and he appreciated all the calls, cards and visits from everyone. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans with Pastor Sam Newton of the Georgia United Methodist Church officiating.
