St. Albans/Sheldon Springs – Harold N. Danyow, 97, a lifelong resident of this area passed away Saturday May 1, 2010, shortly after arrival at the Northwestern Medical Center. Born on January 2, 1913, in Sheldon Springs, he was the son of the late Ernest N. and Mabel (Desrochers) Danyow. Harold served his country in the United States Air Force, was a member of American Legion Post # 88 in Sheldon, a member of Knights of Columbus Council # 297, the Sportsman’s Club of Franklin County and retired from the former Sheldon Pulp Mill following over 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Viens) Danyow of St. Albans; their daughter, Marie Chappel and her husband, James of St. Albans; 2 granddaughters, Michelle and Nicole and a sister, Ruth Larose of Sheldon Junction. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Stevens and brothers, Raymond, Vincent, Howard and Merriam “Deke†Danyow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 2:30 PM in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Sheldon Springs. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the family lot in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
