In 1980, Greg became a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and was selected to attend the University of California at Berkeley earning a Master of Science in Air Transportation and Construction Management in 1981.
Following completion of his Masters Degree program in 1981, Greg moved to Schaumburg, Illinois where he served as a civil engineering program manager at the FAA's Great Lakes Region, Chicago Airports District Office, retiring in October 2011 with 41 years of service. During his time in the Chicago area his work consisted of assisting regional airport owners and technical staffs throughout the State of Indiana, and the Indiana State Aeronautics department on airport projects and enhancements. He administered the Airport Development Aid Program (ADAP), Airport Improvement Program (AIP), the Passenger Facility Program (PFC), airport planning (Master Plans and Airport Layout Plans), and oversaw the projects to ensure conformity to FAA standards.
