St. Albans/Holland - Gregory J. Davis, a former resident of Holland and more recently of St. Albans, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the U.V.M. Medical Ctr, with his family at his side. Born on May 27, 1959, in Rutland, he was the son of Ramona (Hamblin) Davis Reed and the late Raymond E. Davis. Greg was 55 years old. Greg attended Missisquoi Valley Union High School and was a welder and iron worker until 2010 when he retired. He took a lot of pride in his work. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, but especially enjoyed being with his family. Greg passed the time cooking and barbequing. He absolutely loved food. He enjoyed serving his meals as much as cooking them. He spent summer days gardening and perfecting his crops. He loved to listen to his collection of albums and tinker with his stereo equipment. Being an animated story teller he loved to tell tales of his many adventures of hitch hiking across the country. He hiked to Texas, California, Colorado and finally back to Vermont where he settled with his family. His unique laugh will forever ring through our ears as he told his countless stories. Survivors include his 2 daughters, Elisa H. Davis and her partner, Raymond Fortin, Jr. and their son, Sylis Ray Fortin and Genevieve M. Davis all of Orleans; son, Jake Lopacinski of Redwood City, CA; his mother, Ramona Reed of St. Albans; brothers, Gary P. Davis of Kent, WA and Shaun M. Reed and his wife, Mary, of Georgia as well as nieces, Allie and Katie Reed and Heather Davis Davenport and several cousins. In addition to his father, Raymond, Greg was preceded in death by his infant sister, Mary; his wife, Laura Davis; his Dad, Stuart “Buggy” Reed, and his paternal grandparents, Burton and Hannah Davis and maternal grandparents, Clyde and Marie Hamblin. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, 2:00PM-4:00PM at The Knights of Columbus Hall, 242 South Main Street in St. Albans. Assisting Greg’s family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
