St. Albans – Gloria S. Thibault, 87, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at the St. Albans Health Care & Rehab Center. Born on April 20, 1924, in St. Albans, Gloria was the daughter of the late Alfred and Evelyn (L’Ecuyer) Souliere. On June 9, 1947, she married Maurice P. “Sport†Thibault, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1990. Gloria graduated from Holy Angels Grammar School in 1938 and from Bellows Free Academy in 1942. Following graduation she started work for the Central Vermont Railroad as a clerk. She was the first female messenger at the railroad due to the War as many of the boys were going into the service. Gloria then transferred to the railroad Claims Department and later became a secretary in the Mechanical Department. She retired in 1983, following twenty-six years of dedicated service to the railroad. She was a member of Holy Angels Parish, St. Jean de Baptiste Society, Ladies of St. Anne, Central Vermont Railway Veterans Association, and Franklin County Business and Professional Women. Survivors include her two daughters, Jeanne Thibault Leblanc and her husband, Lawrence, of East Bridgewater, MA and Marie Bessette and her husband, Andrew, of St. Albans; her five grandchildren, Jeffrey Foy and wife, Kerry, of West Bridgewater, MA, Julie Lister and husband, Lawrence, of Plymouth, MA, Michael Bessette and wife, Casey, of St. Albans, Gregory Bessette and fiancée, Erin Parizo, of St. Albans, Jeremy Bessette and companion, Sarah Conduragis, of Easton, MA; her seven great- grandchildren, Alex, Katie, and Abby Lister, Nolan Foy, Caylin, Carson, and Evan Bessette. Gloria is also survived by several nieces and nephews, several cousins in Montreal, and her canine companion, “Pixieâ€. She is also survived by her special friends, Pauline “Polly†Labrie, Allen & Marlene Montcalm, Lorraine D’Amico, and Oliva and Gerald Viens. In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was preceded in death by her three sisters, Laurie “Peanut†Desautels, Cecile “Ceci†Fahl, and Marcelle Bouchard, as well as her special companion, Alfred Smart. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, November 14, 2011, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15th, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. The Reverend Brian J. O’Donnell will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
