Fairfield – Gloria (Boomhower) Kane, age 75, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 27th, 2018, at home after a brief struggle with cancer. Gloria was born on October 20th, 1942, in Fairfield, the daughter of Gordon Boomhower and Marguerite (Paradee) Boomhower.
Gloria married the love of her life, Franklin Kane on June 20th, 1964. They raised two children, Tammy (Kane) Miller and Paul Kane. Their house was usually filled with extended family, friends, love and laughter. Franklin predeceased Gloria in November 1995. Gloria was devoted to her family and always welcomed anyone who came to her door.
Gloria became a licensed nurse after graduating from Brigham Academy, Bakersfield in 1960. She worked at many local hospitals. After nursing, Gloria worked on the farm with Frank and raised their family together.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Tammy and Eric Miller, grandson, Jacob Moore and grandson, Kevin Moore, Jr. and her son, Paul, his partner, Jennifer Norton-Boomhower, grandson, Evan, and Jennifer’s children, Laurelle, Jamisson, Nicholas and Collin. She is also survived by her sister, Marguerite “Peggy” Lawyer and Thomas “Teed” Lawyer, brother, George Boomhower and Linda Boomhower, brother, Jack and Rochelle “Shelley” Boomhower and brother, Richard Boomhower, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Frank; parents, Marguerite and Gordon Boomhower and by her siblings, Arita St. Pierre, Patricia Niles, Sonny “Gordon” Boomhower and Mable Greene.
Visitation will be held at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans on Saturday, March 31st, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. followed by a short memorial service at 7:30 P.M. with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating.
In remembrance, Paul and Tammy ask that gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, Vermont Chapter, 55 Day Lane, Williston, Vermont 05495, since cancer has taken both of their parents.
