Obituary for Frederick F. Schibi

Frederick F. Schibi Fletcher - Frederick F. Schibi, 90, a longtime resident of Fletcher died on Friday, December 21, 2007, at the Franklin County Rehab surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 7, 1917, and brought up in Torrington, Connecticut on a dairy and chicken farm. Fred was the son of the late John and Rose (Tomi) Schibi. He was married on June 25, 1955, to Marion Michalek in Canaan, Connecticut. Fred was owner of the International Harvester dealership in Connecticut for many years before moving to Vermont where he and his wife operated Schibi Farm Supply Company for over twenty years after which they retired and moved to their farm in Fletcher. He loved his retirement years - just to relax, enjoying his gardening, love for fishing and hunting with his “Old Gang” of friends he has known for years. Motor home trips were also a great joy for both he and his wife. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Marion of Fletcher, two daughters, Patricia Waite of Jericho and Jean Schibi of St. Albans, four grandchildren, Jarod, Joseph, Frederick and Emily, and his sister, Rose Schibi of New Hartford, Connecticut. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo, John, Jr., Charles and Emile and his sisters, Mary and Adeline all of New Hartford, Connecticut. Fred’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Christian Thomas and the staff from Vermont Center for Cancer Medicine for their wonderful and loving care and support to Fred and his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 24, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church on Church Road in Fairfield. Con-Celebrating will be the Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche and Reverend W. Andre Houle. Spring interment will be in the Schibi family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vermont 05478. Assisting Fred’s family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans. Messages of condolence are welcome at
