Swanton/St. Albans: Francis C. Pelkey, 83, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the St. Albans Health & Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans. He was born in St. Albans Town, August 16, 1932 a son of the late Walter L Pelkey, Sr. and Alberta (Sweeney) Pelkey. On February 14, 1999, he married Lucille P. Watts. Francis retired in 1994 after 29 ½ years with Champlain Cable in Winooski as a spark tester and more recently was employed at Hannaford’s at the Highgate Commons Shopping Center. He was a member of the Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars Men’s Auxiliary and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 297. In his earlier years, Francis enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed the company of his feline friend, “Simba” and his canine companion “Brandy” until her passing. Francis is survived by his wife Lucille of Swanton and four step-sons; David J. Gagne of Swanton, Roger L. Gagne of Bullhead City, AZ, Michael A. Gagne of California and Paul E. Gagne and his wife, Kathy of Randolph, VT. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; Michelle, Karen, Emmanuel, Rachel, Christina, April, Tiffany, Michael, Nicholas, David and Christopher, 12 great grandchildren; Mariah, Kimberly, Kaitlin, Ian, Tyler, Zachary, Elyna, Myah, Zoe, Ivy, Kane and Peyton plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. Francis was predeceased by his first wife, Connie Bushey Pelkey who passed away in 1974, four sisters; Philomena Zabaska, Margaret Pelkey, Susanne Hamilton and Rose Marie Miller, a brother, Walter L. Pelkey, Jr. and a “Special Daughter”, Norma L. Reed. DUE TO ILL HEALTH OF HIS WIFE, LUCILLE, THE MASS FOR TUESDAY HAS BEEN POSTPONED.
