Fabian J. Raymo Fairfield: A Mass of Christian Burial for Fabian Joseph Raymo, who passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011 was concelebrated Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, Church Road, Fairfield with Father Leonidas B. Laroche, Pastor and longtime friend and former Pastor, Father Pierre A. LaVallee, Pastor of St. Ambrose Parish, Bristol, co-officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Gabriel M. Liegey, Jr., Deacon. The altar attendants were Richard Howrigan and Henry Magnan. The organist and vocalist was Mary-Jo Gillilan who was joined by John Schreindorfer in singing “The Old Rugged Crossâ€, “On Eagles Wingsâ€, “The Lord Is My Shepherd-The Twenty Third Psalmâ€, “Amazing Graceâ€, “How Can I Keep From Singingâ€, “The Song of Farewell†and “Swing Low Sweet Chariotâ€. The crucifix was placed on Fabian’s casket by his cousin, Betty Anderson. Reading from the Old and New Testaments were Gene Archambault and Fred Anderson. The Holy Gospel was proclaimed by Deacon Liegey who also led the congregation in the Profession of Faith. The Homily was delivered by Father LaVallee. In honoring their former Fire Chief, the Fairfield Fire Department formed an Honor Guard, including members from the Enosburg Fire Department. Delegations included the St. Patrick Parish Family, Fairfield School, Fairfield Town Office, Esden Florist & Country Store, Chester’s In The Square and all of "his" girls from Parkside Cafe. Also in attendance were neighbors, farmers, sugar makers and former coworkers from the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Words of remembrance were shared by Julie Wolcott, Stephen Tetreault and Father Laroche. A special poem written by Jill Paradee entitled, “Fay and His Lawn Mower†was read by Wendy Scott. Serving as Honorary Bearers were Albert Tetreault, Lyndon Corey, Richard Howrigan, Fred Anderson, Fred Ryan and Richard Pelkey. The Casket Bearers were Stephen Tetreault, Tim Viens, Ray Callan, Anderson Corrigan, Gene Archambault Leon Bushey and Morgan Manning. Following the Mass, a luncheon was hosted by the Ladies of St. Patrick’s Parish. Interment will be held later this spring in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Wednesday afternoon, Father Laroche joined the family and friends in a prayer service in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
