Ethan E. Duffy St. Albans - Ethan E. Duffy, 94, a lifelong area resident, passed away Wednesday October 18, 2006, at Redstone Villa Nursing Home with his loving family at his side. He was born in Georgia, Vermont on February 5, 1912, the son of the late John W. and Sadie (Coon) Duffy. He was married to the former Oleta B. Plumbley, who predeceased him on November 22, 2003. Ethan served his country during World War II and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army as a Staff Sargent. He was a longtime employee of Paquin Motors as a mechanic. Ethan enjoyed flower gardening, was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Men’s Club, volunteered in the Sunday School Program and was instrumental in the organization of additional baseball programs in St. Albans. Survivors include his son; Donald Duffy and his wife, Barbara (Sunderland) of St. Albans, his two grandsons; Clayton Duffy and his wife, Natalie, and Matthew Duffy, his four great grandchildren; Madison, Sierra, Maxwell Ethan and Abigail Duffy, two sisters-in-law; Harriet Duffy of North Burlington and Geneva Marlow of Stuart, Florida and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Oleta, Ethan was predeceased by four brothers; John, Vern, Karl and George Duffy and his sister, Beatrice Duffy. Thank you to the staff at Redstone Villa for the exceptional care and friendship given to Ethan during his stay. At Ethan’s request funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family with the Reverend Charles Kuthe, Pastor of the Georgia Plain Baptist Church officiating. There will be no public visitation. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Duffy Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Bette Dunsmore, 6604 Ethan Allen Highway, St. Albans, VT 05478 to be used for a graduating St Albans Bellows Free Academy Senior, who is seeking further education.
