Obituary for Erwin Karl Wimble
Erwin Karl “Poppy” Wimble Georgia - Erwin Karl “Poppy” Wimble, 85, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away on Saturday evening, August 11, 2007, at the Franklin County Rehab Center with his loving family at his side. He was born in Milton, Vermont on April 18, 1922, the son of the late Noel and Jennie (Hanley) Wimble. In October of 1943, he married the former Idabelle Clarice Ellis, who preceded him in death on October 2, 1998. Karl served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He came back and started his farming career, working on the Wimble family farm on Georgia Mountain, he then worked for the Elijah Palmer farm in Georgia, then moved to the Warner family farm in Fairfax and finally the Post Farm in Georgia. Karl then started in the farm machinery business working for Jack Klecka Farm Machinery in Georgia. Then in 1971, Karl and Idabelle started the Wimble & Son Farm Machinery Shop on Route 104 A in Georgia , which he operated until his retirement in 1989. He also looked forward to each spring, when the sugaring season started. Karl enjoyed going to square dances in Milton, and was known by his family as a “Tinkerer”, taking care of all of his families general repair needs. He was a self taught mechanic learning, his trade while running the family farm. Survivors include his children; Leona Palmer and her husband, Richard Sr., Joan Blackmore and her husband, Butch, and David Wimble and his wife, Debbie all of Georgia, and Wanda Mossey and her husband, Alan of Milton, his grandchildren; Richard Palmer, Jr. and his wife, Kelly, Alonzo Blackmore and his wife, Christine, Kim Donahue and her husband, Thomas , Andrew Blackmore and his girlfriend, Cara Parizo, Jess Wimble and his wife, Allyson, Jason Wimble and his wife, Jill, Jamie Moody and her husband, Brad, Alan Mossey and his wife, Tammy, Kirk Mossey and his wife, Cathy, Karl Mossey and his wife, Jody, Lea Mossey and her boyfriend, Jeff LaFrance and Tia Rooney and her husband, Max, his great- grandchildren; Amelia and Matthew Palmer, Makayla, Sabrina, Kaitlynn, Brandon, and Morgan Wimble and Hailey Moody, Brittany, Bruce, Kirk, II, Taylor, Shelby, Hunter, Megan, and Zachary Mossey and Seamus, Sydney and Aiden Rooney. Karl is also survived by his sister, Mable Bonnett of St. Albans, his sisters-in-law; Ramona Wimble and Pat Wimble both of Georgia and Nancy Martin of Hinesburg, his brothers-in-law; Robert Ellis and Alfred Ellis and his wife, Esther all of Georgia. In addition to his parents and his wife, Karl was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jordan Wimble, his brothers; William Wimble and his wife, Marguerite, Maurice Wimble and Kenneth Wimble, his brothers-in-law, Fred Bonnett, Sr. and Fred Martin, Sr., his sisters-in-law, Erma Yantz and her husband, Roland and Connie Ellis. Karl’s family would like to thank his “special granddaughter”, Kim Donahue and her husband, Tommy for the love and care that they gave him. Also to Club Respite, Franklin County Rehab family and friends for all of their assistance. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 12:00 Noon at the Georgia United Methodist Church in Georgia Center with Pastor Sam Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the Wimble family lot in Milton Village Cemetery. Karl’s family will receive friends on Thursday at the Methodist Church from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
