Obituary for Ernestine R. Burnor

Swanton – Ernestine R. Burnor, 87, a lifelong resident of this area passed away Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Franklin County Rehab Center following a brief illness. Ernestine was born on March 6, 1923, in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Oliver and Mae (Menard-Pascha) Menard. On November 19, 1941, in Holy Angels Church, she married Carlyle “Buddy” Burnor, who preceded her in death on March 26, 2008. Ernestine was a communicant of Holy Angles Church, a member of The Ladies of St. Anne, a member of TOPS, where she was crowned Queen and represented the local chapter in several conventions and parades. She enjoyed babysitting and at one time was thought to have babysat for every youngster in Sheldon. Ernestine was also know for her crafts and won several Blue Ribbons at the Champlain Valley Fair. Most important to her, was her family. Survivors include her son, Francis Burnor and wife, Susan of Sheldon; her daughter, Dawn Quick and husband, David of Swanton; grandchildren, Darren and wife, Sara, Daniel and his significant other, Jillian, Tracy, Jonathan, Monica, Edwin, Dante, Jessica, Tonya and Mike; several great grandchildren; her brother, Francis Menard of California; several brothers and sisters-in-law and her canine companion, “Miss Belle”. In addition to her parents and husband, Ernestine was preceded in death by her son, Reginald Burnor, great granddaughter, Alexandria Quick and sister, Madeline Gay. At Ernestine’s request funeral services will be private. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy, Pastor of Holy Angels Parish will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holiday House, 642 Sheldon Road, St. Albans, VT 05478, the Franklin County Rehab Center, 110 Fairfax Road, St. Albans, VT 05478 or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1 Marcus Boulevard, # 203, Albany, NY 12205.
