Elizabeth R. Westover Highgate Center – Elizabeth R. Westover, 86, passed away Sunday October 15, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her loving family at her side. She was born in Hartford, Vermont on February 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Leonard and Rose (Chadwick) Clogston. She was married to Louis H. Bessette, Sr. who predeceased her in 1958. Elizabeth’s second husband, Leon Westover, predeceased her in 1995. Elizabeth and Louis operated a dairy farm together until his death. Then for several years she was employed by the former Hurlburt’s Nursing Home and then owned and operated a boarding home for fifteen years, caring for patients with disabilities. She enjoyed crocheting and her many camping and fishing outings with her family. Survivors include her son; Louis H. Bessette, Jr. and his wife, Alice of Highgate Center, her two daughters; Joyce Maxey and her companion, Steve Kazda of Waverly, Iowa and Lois Therrien and her companion, David Mosher of Eureka, Missouri, her seven grandchildren; Pamela Moore and her husband, Thomas, Paul Therrien, Bryan Maxey, Thomas Maxey, Julie Spash and her husband, Jim, Kevin Perham and his wife, Tracey and Angela Perham, her three great grandchildren; Kelsey, Brandi and Dusti, several step-children and step grandchildren,her special friend; Merriman Dash, her dear friends, Mabel Brouillette and Jackie Duprey and her pet dog, Fannie. In addition to her parents and her husbands, Louis and Leon, Elizabeth was predeceased by a niece, Evelyn Quienty. Elizabeth’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Franklin County Home Health Agency, Redstone Villa Nursing Home and the Northwestern Medical Center for their assistance during her illness. At Elizabeth’s request there will be no services. Interment will be in the family lot in Sanderson Corners Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vermont 05478 or the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Terrace, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
