St. Albans, VT/Venice, FL - Elizabeth Jane Gadouas, age 76 years, died Thursday evening, August 13, 2009, in her St. Albans home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in St. Albans on August 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose Brouillette. She attended Holy Angels Elementary School and Bellows Free Academy graduating in 1951. On September 27, 1958, Elizabeth married Leo Gadouas. For many years she enjoyed her responsibilities as a homemaker and mother. In 1983 Elizabeth and her husband purchased the Fonda Outlet store in St. Albans (later called Papertime), which she ran for 12 years. She enjoyed the challenge of running the business as well as talking with the many people she met there. After retiring she became a "snow bird" spending the winter months in Venice, Florida. While in Venice she enjoyed working on the committee that produced the annual St. Albans Vermont Day in Florida. During the summer Elizabeth and Leo could be found at their cottage near St. Albans Bay surrounded by family and friends. She particularly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. Elizabeth leaves her husband, Leo, of fifty-two years, her son, Aaron of Chicago, Illinois, her daughter Jane Ryan and her husband, Michael, of St. Albans, Vermont, as well as her grandchildren Brendan and Galen Ryan. She also leaves her brother, Adrian Brouillette and his wife, Janice, of Waterbury, Connecticut and her sister, Mary Bissonnette of St. Albans, Vermont as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother, Howard Brouillette. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 16, 2009, from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street in St. Albans.
