Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" A. (Newton) Sheperd

Georgia – Elizabeth died peacefully at her home with her daughters at her side on Monday, Nov 28, 2011. She was born in St. Albans on October 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Thomas and Marion (Monette) Anstey. On April 17, 1943, she married Ward J. Newton and made their home at the family farm in Georgia, where she lived until her death. Ward predeceased her on June 5, 1959. On June 3, 1962, she married George H. Sheperd, who predeceased her on May 27, 1991. Until her health started failing, she enjoyed going to auctions, bowling, knitting, gardening and shopping with her sister-in-law, Faith Newton. The last few years of her life she did numerous jigsaw puzzles. Since January, Betty had accomplished 86 puzzles and was working on her 87th the day before she died. Her family meant the world to her and she was loved by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Betty leaves two daughters, Lee (Newton) Carson and husband, Dale, of Georgia and Ann (Newton) Rademacher and husband, James, of Pittsford. She also leaves five grandchildren; Karen Tibbits and husband, Larry, of Enosburg, Brett Carson and wife, Tracyann, of Georgia, Wade Carson and companion, Vanessa Dedrick, of Eugene, Oregon and Emily and Brian Rademacher of Pittsford; her five great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Lauren and Jacob Marshia and Blayke and Paytin Carson. Betty is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William, Thomas and George Anstey. A funeral service will be held on Sat, Dec 3, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Georgia United Methodist Church on Ethan Allen Highway. Pastor Hyung-Kyu Yi will officiate. Immediately following the service, Betty’s family will receive friends in the fellowship hall for a reception hosted by the Georgia United Methodist Church family.
