Obituary for Elizabeth A. "Bette" Morris
Grand Isle – Elizabeth A. “Bette” Morris, 70, a resident of this community since 1969, passed away early Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at her home with her loving family at her side. Born on April 4, 1939, in Woburn, Massachusetts, Bette was the daughter of the late John H. and Miriam E. (Drew) Sullivan. On June 5, 1957, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, she married John R. Morris, who survives her. Bette was a graduate of Wilton Academy in Boston, Massachusetts. She also enjoyed a lifetime of education where she became an accomplished artist, enjoyed spinning and weaving and was proud of her gardens, where she and John became herbalists. Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, John R. Morris,Sr. of Grand Isle; their two sons, John R. Morris, Jr. and his wife, Diane of St. Albans and Steve Morris and his wife, Sandy of Essex; their two daughters, Laura Blood and her husband, Neal of Charlotte and Amy Litchfield and her husband, David of Bradford, Vermont; her grandchildren, Justin Morris, Kate Morris, Andrea Blood, Michael Blood, Alex Morris and Shaun Morris. Bette is also survived by her cousins, Clair Murphy and her husband, Tom and Mary Burns and her husband, Jeff and also by close family friends, Lynn and Jean Beaudry and their family. In addition to her parents, John and Miriam “Dolly” Sullivan, Bette was preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Sullivan and her sister, Patty Sullivan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 12 Noon in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. at the family lot in the Grand Isle Cemetery. Bette’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bette’s name may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties, 110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vermont 05446-9903.
