Georgia-Miss Edith Arlene Pattee, 95, died early Sunday June 12, 2011, at the Franklin County Rehab & Long-term Care Center. She was born in Georgia, March 12, 1916, the daughter of the late Fred O. and Ella (Cleveland) Pattee. Edith was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, class of 1934; of Johnson Normal School in 1936, and received a B.S. Degree in Education from the University of Vermont in 1969. She was a teacher in the towns of Georgia and Irasburg for 22 years and a clerk in the Accounting Department of the Central Vermont Railway, Inc. for 18 years. Edith was a member of the Georgia United Methodist Church with close ties to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in St. Albans. She was treasurer of the Georgia Church for over 25 years. She also belonged to the local, state and national Retired Teacher’s Association. She was a former member of Banner Grange # 356 of Georgia. Edith is survived by her eight nieces and nephews and their families; Martha Heath of Westford and her daughters, Molly, Kathleen (Eric) and Elise; Roger Pattee and his wife, Barbara of Lavonia, MI and their son, Adrian; Allen Pattee and his wife, Terri, of Manchester, NH and their children, Bethany (Scott), Daniel and Sarah; Rebecca Buczynski of Woodbridge, VA; Margaret Pattee of Georgia; Marolyn McGowan and her husband, Gerald of Mesa, AZ; George Pattee, II and his wife, Debra, of Baltimore, MD and their two sons, Joshua and George (Jessica) and Ellen Meek and her husband, Daniel, of Hermon, ME and their children, James, Andrew and Rachael. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha and Carolyn, her brother, George and his wife, Dorothy, and her brother, James and his wife, Irene. At Edith’s request her body is to be donated to the University of Vermont College Of Medicine for anatomical study. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.
