Earl O. Caswell St. Albans - Earl O. Caswell, 82, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care with his loving family at his side. He was born in St. Albans, Vermont on January 19, 1925, the son of the late Cecil and Blanche “ Ellaâ€(Noel) Caswell. Earl and Norma Ruth Newland were married on April 3, 1943, in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Earl was stationed in Hawaii during World War II, serving in the United States Army. Upon his Honorable Discharge he worked for the Central Vermont Rail Road as an apprentice painter. He then was employed as a truck driver for George Howard, then worked for Webster and Earl Body Shop. Earl then was employed by the United States Post Office in St. Albans as a mail carrier and then as clerk. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Representative of the Clerk/Carriers Union of the Post Office and a very proud and active member of Franklin Lodge # 4, F&AM, where he served as Master three times. Earl enjoyed spending his summers at camp on Lake Champlain and trout fishing. He and Norma were very proud of the 1931 Chevy that they restored together and took “Best in Show†in August of 1984, at Stowe, Vermont. Earl received and Honorary High School Diploma in 2004 from Bellows Free Academy. Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Norma Ruth of St. Albans, their daughter, Dawna Langlais and her husband, Leonard of Highgate, their daughter-in-law, Jill Caswell of Fairfield, their son, Peter Caswell and his wife, Beth of Montana, his grandchildren; Jennipher Burnor and her husband, Phillip, Warren Caswell and his wife, Tonya, Randy Caswell, Edward T. Czuchrey, II, Dawna Czuchrey, Karen Fowler, Jeff, Rebekah, Ian and Sarah Caswell, his great-grandchildren; Adam Burnor and his fiancé, Tiffany, Joshua Burnor, Christopher Caswell, Sammy Caswell, Rosie Caswell, Megan Ruth Czuchrey, Winter Seyfer, Given Czuchrey and several great grandchildren in Montana. Earl is also survived by his two brothers; Fay Caswell of Florida and Charles Caswell of Swanton, his brother-in-law, Gordon Raine of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy E. Caswell on April 9, 1996, his granddaughters; Wendy and Shannon and his sister, Leona “Nona†Raine. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on the corner of Fairfield and Church Street. Interment will follow in the Caswell family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. Earl’s family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans. Franklin Lodge # 4, F&AM will hold their ritualistic service on Friday at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
