Obituary for Douglas Howard Gilbert
St. Albans/Enosburg: Douglas Howard Gilbert, 75, passed away Monday, March 12, 2017, at the Birchwood Terrace Healthcare, following several years of declining health, with his brother, Robert and his wife Linda by his side.

Born in Bakersfield, September 19, 1942, he was a son of the late Morris Ernest Gilbert and Mildred (Pelkey) Gilbert.

Douglas attended schools in Bakersfield and graduated from Brigham Academy in 1962, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a military police officer during the Viet Nam Conflict in Guam as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Following his discharge, Douglas worked as a long hall truck driver for many years and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in St. Albans. Doug enjoyed doing backyard mechanical work and was an avid fisherman.

Douglas leaves three daughters, Kimberly Ann Gilbert, Peggy Lynn Gilbert and Pamela Jean Gilbert two step sons, Michael Messier and Nick Messier, two brothers, Robert Gilbert and his wife, Linda and Wendell Gilbert and a sister, Janice Sears. He also leaves several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside services will be held later this spring at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph at the convenience of the family.
