Obituary for Dorothy "Dot" Lawton Larry

Saint Albans – Dorothy Lawton Larry a lifelong area resident passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Franklin County Rehab Center.

Born in St. Albans on May 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (Stolliker) Lawton. Dot was 92 years old.

On December 24, 1971, in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, she married John H. “Zeb” Larry, who predeceased her on August 16, 2005.

Following graduation in 1944 from Bellows Free Academy, Dot was betrothed by Airman, Earl Lapan, who was killed in action during World War II. She entered the Cadet Nurse Program to help during the war.

Most people will remember her for her many hours of work at the medical offices of Drs. Frederick Swisler, Harlan Casavant, Bruce Lindberg and as the former Director of Admissions at Kerbs Memorial Hospital. She also worked for the Vermont Associates helping people over 55 find jobs. She was coordinator for many years for the Vermont Cancer Society.

Dot was a longtime member of King’s Daughters and had a great appreciation for the arts and music. She was a communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Victoria L. Jacobs, of St. Albans and her children, Rebecca Jacobs and her husband, Joseph DeStefano and their daughter, Gabriella all of Rockland, Maine and Kyle Jacobs of St. Albans, Vermont and step-son, Wayne Larry and his wife, Sally, of St. Albans and their family, Mikayla Maskell and her husband, Tim, and their children, Cam and Owen, Jessica’s children, Hannah, Sadie, and Jake Taylor and Sarah Jane Pieri and her children, Benjamin and his wife, Katlin, and their children, Eden, Jax, Leo and Rowan Pieri, Bailey, and Kirby, and as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Zeb, Dot was pre-deceased by her first husband, Bradley Burbank; their son, Gary P. Burbank; grandson, Jonathan H. Larry and granddaughter, Jessica (Larry) Taylor; her sisters, Marjory Lawton and Alice L. Kinney and her husband, Jack, and her brothers, Douglas Lawton and his wife, Thelma, and Robert Lawton and his wife, Oria.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 10:00 AM Saint Albans Bay Cemetery, Lake Road with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial’s in Dot’s name may be made to CarePartners Adult Day Center, 34 Franklin Park West, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
