Doris P. Casavant St. Albans - Doris P. Casavant, 95, a longtime area resident, died on Thursday morning, March 1, 2007 at the Northwestern Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on March 26, 1911, the adopted daughter of Eleazer and Edna (Shackett) Pelkey. She married Clifford Deforest Casavant in 1930. He preceded her in death in 1969. Doris was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and Friends of the St. Albans Free Library. In 1971 at the age of sixty-one Doris, became so excited to get her first ever driving license and car. In 1978 at the age of sixty-seven, she graduated from the Community College of Vermont and she was an avid reader, a superb seamstress and very devoted to her family and friends. She so often expressed the feeling “I am very blessed†for her family. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara C. Kellum and husband, Rotui of West Nyack, New York; Betty L’Esperance and husband, Armand of Swanton; two sons, William Casavant and wife, Patricia of Salisbury, Vermont; Peter Casavant and wife, Lois of South Burlington, Vermont; ten grandchildren, Dr. Mark LeTourneau; Martha Ryan; William, Bruce, and Benjamin Kellum; Michael, Jeffrey, and Cheri L’Esperance; Clifford and Brad Casavant; eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and a son-in-law, Richard LeTourneau of Edgewater, Florida. In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet LeTourneau on October 18, 2004. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on the corner of Fairfield and Church Street. Interment will be later this spring in the family lot in Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg. Doris’ family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 12:00 - 1:30 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.
