Obituary for Doris M. Bailey

St. Albans – Doris M. Bailey, 79, a lifelong area resident passed away early Saturday October 2, 2010, at the Franklin County Rehab Center. Born on October 8, 1930, in St. Albans, she was the daughter of the late Nazaire and Aurore (Allen) Martell. Doris was married to Ralph Bailey, who preceded her in death in 1996. Doris was a graduate of Catholic Central High in Troy, NY. She was a Nurse’s Aide for over 20 yrs at the former Verdelle Village Extended Care Facility, volunteered for the Champlain Agency on Aging and Senior Companions. Doris enjoyed knitting, playing cards, bingo & “Name that Tune”, watching TV and visiting with her family and friends. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish. She was a caring & devoted individual to those around her. Survivors include her sons, David & his wife, Tina of Georgia and Wayne of Milton; her daughters, Diane Paquette of Swanton and Sandra Hobb & husband, Richard of St. Albans; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchild; a sister, Joyce, 3 brothers, Joe, Floyd & Roland; brother-in-law, Richard Bailey; sister-in-law, Shirley Bailey, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her step-children, Linda Berthiaume, Patricia Bailey & Ralph Allen Bailey and several step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara & Pauline & brother, Wilfred. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 4:00 PM in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 So Main St., St. Albans. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will officiate. Doris’ family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.
