Obituary for Donald L. Westover, Sr.
St. Albans – Donald L. Westover, Sr, 66, a lifelong area resident passed away Sunday May 20, 2012, at his home with his loving family at his side following an extended illness. Born on August 1, 1945 in St. Albans, Donald was the son of the late Albee and Elizabeth (Cameron) Westover. On March 2, 1963, Donald married Dorothy Driver, who survives him. Donald was a man of many trades and talents. Most of his career he spent in industrial construction. He lived his live to the fullest. Nothing ever held him back from a challenge. He had an outstanding love for greyhounds. Donald was a proud member, sponsor and President of Northern Greyhound Adoption. He has been at Pet Food Warehouses door for many years bringing his beloved rescue dogs in search of new homes. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. A smile and a laugh he gave to everyone. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dorothy of St. Albans; 3 children and their spouses, Traci & Rick Gabree of Enosburg, Susan & Thomas Booska, II of Bristol and Donald, “Dino” & Darcy Westover, Jr. of St. Albans, his 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rosanna Guyette of St. Albans and many nieces and nephews. Family, friends and his beloved greyhounds are invited to a celebration of life gathering at the St. Pierre residence, 262 Route # 36 in Fairfield on Saturday, May 26, 2012, from 2 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Greyhound Rescue, 999 Fairfax Rd, St. Albans, VT 05478. Private messages of condolence to Donald’s family are welcome at “Life is not the way it is supposed to be, it’s the way it is. The way we cope with it is what makes the difference Happiness lies for those who cry those who hurt, those who have searched and those who have tried for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. “
