Obituary for Donald "Frenchy" Berube

Donald “Frenchy” Berube, 85, a longtime resident of Georgia, VT, passed away peacefully at his home on October 7, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Caswell Plantation, Maine, on August 1, 1937, to Eli and Ida (Martin) Berube. He lived on the family farm until enlisting in the United States Army at the age of 17. Rather than return to Maine, he eventually settled down in Vermont, where he married the love of his life, began a long career in carpentry, and had a daughter whom he adored. He loved to play guitar, fish, garden, sit fireside at his camp, play “cahds” and yell “Ma” just to watch his wife come running. His grandchildren were the absolute light of his life and always put a big smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosalie (Jacobs), their daughter, Diane and her husband Jason Porter, and grandchildren, Christopher and Madison. He is also survived by his sister, Mona Fitzherbert, his sister, Rose and her husband Ronald Wright, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Thibodeau; and his three brothers, Gilbert, Francis, and Gerald Berube.

Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence or memories may be shared with his family at
