St. Albans – On September 26th, Deforest Dean “D.D.†Paquette, 74, was called to the greatest hunting ground ever. D.D. passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 14th, 1938, the son of Edmund “Jack†and Winona Pearl (Picard) Paquette. D.D. graduated from B.F.A. St. Albans in 1957 and on October 6, 1957, married the love of his life, Florence M. Hilliker. D.D. was an avid outdoorsman, who lived to hunt and fish. He took great pride in his marksmanship and sportsmanship. He proudly and lovingly passed his skills on to his children, and especially his grandchildren. D.D. was most happy when pursuing his passion of the outdoors, and sharing his sporting achievements. He took great joy in the sporting triumphs of his children, grandchildren and friends. He was a knowledgeable gun enthusiast and Skeet shooter, who won many awards and titles. For many years D.D. and Flo both enjoyed their dinner outings and weekly card games with a very special group of friends. He loved to laugh, have fun and made sure to include everyone in his joy. He worked hard for the Central Vermont Railroad from 1959 to 1994, working first as a brakeman, conductor and then graduated from Engineer’s School in Gimli, Manitoba, Canada in 1982. D.D. proudly engineered Amtrak for many years; acquiring many great friends along the way. For over 30 years, D.D. served as the Health Officer in St. Albans Town, after taking over the position from his father. D.D. was formerly an active member of the Elk’s and the Loyal Order of the Moose, in which he acquired his Fellowship. He was instrumental in implementing their family picnic. Most recently D.D. was a proud Charter Member of “Official Pepe Bullshit Club†at the Bayside Bait and Tackle, where he spent his mornings enjoying the company of his best friend and hunting partner, Steve Martell, and the many folks who participated in the Club’s primary activity. He leaves his beloved family including his wife, “Flossâ€, his children, Joel and his wife, Cathy (Elwood), Deana and her partner, Craig Capstraw, Kyle and his wife, Lee (Roberts), Nicki and her husband, Kevin Helms; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica Jean Paquette and her partner, Pat Jenkins, Kaleb Dean, Dylan Green and Emmitt Jack Hardy, Isabel Rose and Abigail Pearl Paquette; his new step-grandchildren, Brittnie, Shawn Brendan, Jori and Jared Helms; his beloved great grandchildren, Laney Winona Domina, Hailey Elizabeth Jenkins and step great granddaughter, Baileigh Rose Perron.
