St. Albans – Dale Douglas Paul, a retired educator at Missisquoi Valley Union High School passed away, February 8, 2013, at the Northwestern Medical Center. Born in Syracuse, New York on July 29, 1947, she was the daughter of William Douglas and the late Jeannette (Ernst) Douglas. Dale was 66 years old. Dale graduated from Syracuse University and advanced training in education at the University of New Hampshire. She was a lifelong educator, who taught in the Jamesville-Dewitt School District in New York, and the Glover Community School and Barton Graded School in Vermont. Dale moved to Saint Albans in 1987 and then taught at Missisquoi Valley Union High School for 15 years. Dale’s special love for literature and learning inspired many of her students, and she also shared her gift for bringing stories to life with her family and friends. Survivors include her father, William Douglas of Marcellus, NY; her brother, Bruce Douglas and his wife, Betsy, of Syracuse, NY; their sons, Andrew and Alex Douglas; and her cousins, Alison Kelly and Grant Alpern of Atlanta, GA. Services for Dale will be announced at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, Saint Albans, VT 05478.
