Clifford C. Putnam St. Albans - Clifford C. Putnam, 68, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, November 24, 2006 at FAHC in Burlington. He was born in Sheldon, March 15, 1938, the son of the late Ralph and Evelyn (Whiting) Putnam. Cliff attended Sheldon Elementary School and was a 1956 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He entered the U. S. Army in July of 1957 and was honorably discharged in July of 1959. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He then worked part time for Food Science Corporation. He was a member and past officer of St. Albans Lodge 1566, BPOE. He also belonged to Green Mountain Post #1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, VFW. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed going to the races, and spending time with his friends at the Elks Lodge. Survivors include his longtime friend, former wife and mother of his children, Esther Putnam of St. Albans, two sons and their wives; Steven and Yvonne Putnam and Dwayne and Anne Putnam, all of St. Albans, three brothers; Clinton Putnam and his wife, Elaine of Springfield, MA, Ralph Putnam, Jr., and his wife, Mary of Burlington, VT, Richard Putnam and his companion Pam, of St. Albans, a sister, Reba Meunier and her husband, Lewis of So. Burlington, four grandchildren; Jessica Putnam of St. Albans, Abby Putnam of Georgia, Taylor Putnam of Georgia and Evelyn Putnam of St. Albans. He also leaves a special friend, Muriel Bovat of Bristol, VT and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Putnam on June 5, 2004. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Herman Benjamin, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home. At the end of the evening visitation, a memorial service will be conducted in the Heald Chapel by St. Albans Lodge 1566, BPOE for their departed brother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Silver Towers Camp for Exceptional People, c/o St. Albans Lodge 1566, B.P.O.E., P.O. Box 87, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
