Obituary for Claude Joseph Bourbeau
Saint Albans – Claude Joseph Bourbeau a lifelong resident and dairy farmer passed away Saturday, July 10th, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Saint-Felix-de-Kingsey, Quebec on June 18th, 1937, he was one of six children born to Omer and Yvette (Lebel) Bourbeau. Claude was 84 years old.

On August 16th, 1958, in Holy Angels Church, he married Jeanne Brodeur, who survives him.

Claude was a longtime dairy farmer on the Newton Road and was very community-oriented serving as a Lister and member of the School Board for St. Albans Town, on the Holy Angels Parish Council Finance Committee, Board of Directors and longtime Treasurer for the St. Albans CO-OP, served as Vice Chair for Farm Credit Bank, Franklin County Soil Conservation/NRCD, FHA committee, served as Chair of the New England Dairy Promotion Board and New England Dairy and Food Council, MPSI officer, served on the National Dairy Board, Dairy Advisory Committee for Senator Jeffords and served on the Board of Directors for DMI.

Throughout his farming career he received several awards including, VT Agriculture Hall of Fame Member, VT Jaycees Young Farmer of the Year, VT Dairy of distinction Award winner, VT Dairyman of the Year Finalist, hosted US Ag Secretary Glickman’s New England visit and provided testimony to several state and federal committees concerning dairy policy.

Claude enjoyed bowling for many years at the St. Albans bowling center, was known as an ace in billiards for much of his life, enjoyed golfing, playing cards, both at home and at the casino and also a 4th Degree Knight with St. Albans Council # 297, Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jeanne; their sons, Paul and his wife, Bonnie, Raymond and his wife, Carol, and Denis and his wife, Leslie, as well as grandchildren, John, Jason, Jennifer, Joanna, Jessica, Douglas, Cameron, Brian and Shawn, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Claude is also survived by his 2 sisters, Pauline Brodeur and Michelle Bourbeau, sisters-in-law, Georgette Bourbeau, Helen Bourbeau, Patty Brodeur and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Yvonne and Robert Thibault and Robert and JoAnn Brodeur and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Omer and Yvette Bourbeau, Claude was pre-deceased by his brothers, Gilles and Jacques and brother and sister-in-law, Jean Louis and Suzanne Bourbeau, father and mother-in-law, Philip and Irene Brodeur and brothers-in-law, Paul and Armand Brodeur.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs of Franklin County Rehab, Bayada Hospice and Loving Home Care, especially Hawa Fuad, Claude’s primary care giver for the last 12 months, for their care and compassion during Claude’s last two years.

Claude’s family will receive friends on SUNDAY JULY 18th, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on TUESDAY JULY 20TH, 2021, AT 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Father Christopher Micale as celebrant. Prayers of Committal and interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131 or Franklin County Rehab Center, 110 Fairfax Road, St. Albans, Vermont 05478.
