Clarence N. Holmes St. Albans/Swanton - Clarence N. Holmes, 78, an overseer of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Swanton, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with his family and friends at his side. He was born in Manchester, Connecticut on September 16, 1929, the son of the late Ward and Signe (Anderson) Holmes. On September 16, 1950, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Clarence married the former Anna Katherine Silverten, who survives him. Clarence retired in 1993, after forty-one years as a plate operator with the former Fonda Container Corporation. He was baptized in 1945 and for over fifty years, he was presiding overseer with the Kingdom Hall in Swanton and formerly of St. Albans. Clarence and his wife, Anna formed the first Kingdom Hall in St. Albans. Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Anna of St. Albans; their daughter Linda Lazarski and her husband, Brian of St. Albans; a grandson, Matthew; and his sister, Esther Kaiser and her husband, William of Ellingtion, Connecticut. In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a son, Steven Holmes in 1975. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses on Swanton Road in Swanton. Memorials may be made in Clarence’s name to the Swanton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, P.O. Box 244, St. Albans Bay, Vermont 05481.
