Obituary for Claire R. Simpson - Funeral Held

Claire R. Simpson St. Albans/Rutland: A Mass of Christian Burial for Claire R. Simpson, who passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 was celebrated Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Fairfield Street, St. Albans with Father Maurice J. Roy, Pastor of Holy Angels Parish, St. Albans, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Gabe Gagne, Deacon. Assisting at the altar were Eucharistic Ministers, Rose Rixon and Denise Messier. A selection of special hymns including “Amazing Grace”, “The Lord Is My Shepherd-Psalm 23”, “Only In God”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Song Of Farewell” and “Be Not Afraid” were played by organist Robert Chevalier accompanied by his sister and vocalist, Marie Chevalier. The Sacred Scriptures from the Old and New Testaments were read by daughters, Hillary Kratky and Paula Simpson. Deacon Gagne proclaimed the Holy Gospel and led the congregation in the Profession of Faith. Presenting the offertory gifts were granddaughters, Kathleen Simpson and Joanne Christianson Forming an honor guard at the visitation and funeral were the members of Catholic Daughters of America # 468 Court of St. Mary’s. Also attending were former Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans co-teachers, former neighbors and spouses of former Simpson Motors employees. There were representatives from Northwestern Medical Center, Total Home Center, The Super Store, Bob’s Meat Market, Fletcher-Allen Health Care and Vermont Agency of Transportation. Also attending was representation of several former St. Albans businesses including, Cornerstone Restaurant, St. Albans Electric Company, Kaye’s Shoe Store, King’s Cove Restaurant, Books and Things, Homer Hungerford Ford, Dowlings, Olde Foundry Restaurant and Champlain Connection. The bearers included a son, Michael Simpson, Paul Aiken, Stephan Kratky and Jeremy Wesson. Interment was in the family lot in the Holy Cross Cemetery with committal prayers offered by Father Roy, followed by a luncheon hosted by St. Mary’s Christian Service Committee. Wednesday evening, Father Roy conducted a Vigil Prayer Service in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
